Udinese beat AC Milan 2-1 Saturday to confirm a safe midtable position in the Italian Serie A as the Devils stayed seven points away from the Europa League zone. The hosts found no goals from an aggressive first half that veteran Antonio Di Natale opened with a fast shot deflected by Diego Lopez before curling good corner kicks for the missed efforts from Emmanuel Badu and Silvan Widmer. Giampiero Pinzi found the net on 58 with a drive from inside the box and Badu on 75 doubled the lead by converting from Di Natale. Milan's lukewarm reaction only allowed Giampaolo Pazzini to pull one back with a header two minutes from time. Udinese, on 38 points from 32 games, are 15 clear of the drop zone as Milan sit ninth on 43 with six games remaining. Roma play later Saturday at Inter Milan, looking to move ahead of city rivals Lazio in the race for second place to get direct access to the Champions League. Lazio (58) are ahead of Roma on goal difference before playing at home to Chievo Sunday, when leaders Juventus (73) play a city derby with Torino. |
