The son of record Formula One world
champion Michael Schumacher made a strong Formula Four debut on
Saturday by placing ninth.
Mick Schumacher, 16, was the best rookie in the race in which he rose
from 19th place on the grid. He drives for the Van Amersfoort team.
"Of course I am happy that I could make up ground. But I at first
didn't think about being the best rookie," he said.
Two further races are scheduled for Sunday. The Formula Four series
has 24 races over eight weekends.
Michael Schumacher won seven world titles in his illustrious F1
career. He is recovering from serious head injuries he sustained in a
skiing accident in France in December 2013.
