Parson, Mavs beat Thunder 134-131 in old-fashion shootout

 Chandler Parsons scored 13 of his 22 points in
the final quarter, including a key jumper with 13 seconds left, and
the visiting Dallas Mavericks outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunder
134-131 on Wednesday.
Russell Westbrook topped Oklahoma City with 31 points, 11 rebounds
and 11 assists for his 10th triple-double of the season and 17th of
his career.
Monta Ellis scored 26, German juggernaut Dirk Nowitzki had 19 for
Dallas (46-29), which shot a sizzling 62 per cent from the field to
strengthen its hold on the seventh playoff spot in the West.
Anthony Morrow dropped in 32 points, while Turkish-native Enes Kanter
had a career-high 30 with 16 rebounds for the Thunder (42-33), which
had its lead cut to 1.5 games over New Orleans for the final playoff
spot in the West.
The Thunder rallied from an early 10-point deficit in the final frame
to go ahead 129-128 on two free throws by Morrow with 1:45 remaining.
But Parsons and Ellis scored inside to put the Mavs back on top by
three.
Westbrook made a pair from the stripe to bring the Thunder within
132-131. But Parsons hit a spinning jumper in the lane with 13
seconds remaining restoring the lead to three.
Westbrook missed a wild straightaway 3-pointer but ran down the ball
in the left corner only to miss another triple. The Mavs grabbed the
rebound, and Ellis made a free throw to seal the victory.
Elsewhere: Houston Rockets 115, Sacramento Kings 111: James Harden
hit 8-of-9 triples en route to a career-high 51 points, shooting the
Rockets (51-24) past the visiting Kings (26-48), who wasted DeMarcus
Cousins' second career triple-double of 24 points, 21 rebounds and
10 assists, along with a personal-best six blocks.
- San Antonio Spurs 103, Orlando Magic 91: Aron Baynes scored 18
points and the visiting Spurs' (49-26) beat the Magic (22-53) to
clinch their 18th consecutive Western Conference playoff berth.
- LA Clippers 126, Portland Trail Blazers 122: Chris Paul hit two
free throws with 5.1 seconds left to cap a season-high 41-point,
17-assist effort, and the visiting Clippers (50-26) stormed from 19
down in the second quarter to deny the Trail Blazers a chance at
clinching the Northwest Division title with their biggest
come-from-behind victory of the season.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 29 points for Portland (48-26), which had won
its previous four outings.
- Brooklyn Nets 100, New York Knicks 90: Brook Lopez' tip-in with two
seconds left, lifted the visiting Nets (34-40) over the league-worst
Knicks (14-61) for their season-high fifth straight win and into a
tie with Miami for the seventh playoff spot in the East.
- Milwaukee Buck 95, Chicago Bulls 91: Michael Carter-Williams had 21
points with 10 rebounds, and the Bucks (37-38) beat the visiting
Bulls (45-30) to remain in the sixth playoff spot in the East despite
Jimmy Butler's game-high 25 points.
In other games: the Washington Wizards dropped the visiting
Philadelphia 76ers 106-93; the Utah Jazz rocked the visiting Denver
Nuggets 98-84; and the playoff-bound Toronto Raptors crushed the
hosting Minnesota Timberwolves 113-99.
Also, the Charlotte Hornets stung the visiting Detroit Pistons
102-78; the Boston Celtics stopped the visiting Indiana Pacers
100-87; and the visiting New Orleans Pelicans blasted the LA Lakers
113-92
