Martina Navratilova ended an unsuccessful coaching run with ninth-ranked Agnieszka Radwanska on Friday, with the former great saying she had no time for the job. Navratilova said in a statement that she had not realised how busy she was with other parts of her life and was unable to devote the hours needed to the Pole whose best result this season was a semi-final in her small home WTA event in Katowice. "I am stepping down as Agnieszka's part-time coach. I think I underestimated the time it would take to make this a proper and good situation for both Agnieszka and me," the 58-year-old Navratilova said in a statement. "I really enjoyed working with Aga and her whole team, and I wish her all the best for the rest of the season." Radwanska is currently in danger of exiting the top 10 after her freefall this season. Her latest loss came in the first round of Stuttgart this week when she lost in straight sets to Italy's Sara Errani. "I just wanted to thank Martina for her time and efforts over these last few months," Radwanska tweeted. "It was a great experience but we both agreed that as Martina could not commit 100 per cent to the project then it was not going to work as a long-term partnership." |
