Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski joined his teammates for the trip to Barcelona Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's Champions League semi-final despite suffering severe facial injuries last week. Lewandowski broke his nose and jaw in a clash with Borussia Dortmund keeper Mitchell Langerak in the German Cup semi-final defeat but has trained this week wearing a protective mask. Bayern are without Sebastian Rode, with a muscle injury, who joins Franck Ribery, David Alaba, Arjen Robben and Holger Badstuber on the treatment table. Despite the injury problems, Bayern feel capable of defeating Barcelona even if a repeat of the 7-0 aggregate win in 2013 is unlikely. "We believe in ourselves," forward Thomas Mueller said at Munich airport. |
